Creepy stony punkish metalish jams from LA's Flying Hair. Features Bobby from the original Zig Zags line up on Bass/Vocals and Matthew from Wino's Premonition 13 on drums. This is a reissue of the band's sold out first run of the Haunted Hangout II cassette. Whereas that one was made by the band themselves on a old church cassette duper this one is professionally done so has increased fidelity and a slight twist on the graphic layout. Comes with digital files when purchased via Bandcamp. Limited to 100 copies!

  • Record/Vinyl + Digital Album

Flying Hair's debut album finally available on vinyl. 12" LP available now! Free digital downloads when ordering via Bandcamp!

Flying Hair are core members Bobby Martin, Matthew Clark, and Kurt Mangum. Bobby was a founding member of Zig Zags where he both sang and played drums. Switching to bass/vocals in Flying Hair he is joined by Matthew, a previous collaborator with doom legend Wino Weinrich, on drums, and Kurt blasting effects laden guitar. Flying Hair creates heavily riffed demented jams with straight creeper vibes. They have a surprisingly catchy pop sensibility emerging from a wave of weirdness and groove. Their debut Haunted Hangout II was reissued on vinyl on cult label Casual Acid Tea based in Los Angeles, after selling out several runs of DIY cassettes. This album could aptly soundtrack a horror flick set in a smoke filled funhouse. Haunted Hangout II was mixed/produced by guitarist/tech mastermind Brian McKinley of Black Bananas/RTX. With added member Brian Fox on synthesizers, the band is finishing up their second full length album to be released in 2017.

LA RECORD's Chris Ziegler review for Flying Hair Haunted Hangout II

Lets crack open this tape and stretch in in-between Black Sabbath and Black Angels, and then let the sun get to work on it so it gets all gooey and bubbly and boils off in shreds. That's the last chunk of last song "Tiny Little Man," where synthesizer pushes its wormy fingers between the cracks a la every zombie movie that had an unhappy ending. Isn't it nice to check out a band that believes in 'shreds' not just as a verb but as a noun and eventually a destination? Flying Hair is immersed in the queasy uneasy tension between blast damaged nuthin' fancy stoner rock and that span of 70's when heavy psych and creepy prog overlapped cuz they were all watching the same horror movies on the same downers with genre distinction coming down to weather the guitarist or organist or the vocalist would flip out first and best. Here they take turns. Guitar: Captain," in one of the final suites. Organ: the pleasantly barren second half of "LSD Dracula." And the vocals? Ex-Zig Zag Bobby peaks on the the Harlan Ellison-via-Kim-Fowley climax of "I wonder what the clock-keepers keeping ... KEEPING... KEEpprojngngngngng..." in "Tiny Little man." Sometimes people release albums sometimes they release wild things back into nature cuz they're getting too big to control anymore-this tape is just a little bit the second then the first.
